Does anyone know the circumstances surrounding Campbells?? We'd driven by it a couple of times in Jan and Feb and I'm pretty sure the standard "see you in the spring" sign was in the window. We were shocked to drive by yesterday and discover that the building was raised, the parking lots torn up, and the property on both sides of Asbury had for sale signs on them! No sign that there ever was anything there but dirt!
From the age of 5 till I was 9 we spent summers across Asbury from Campbells and spent lots of time on the front porch watching the comings and goings at Campbells. It was always especially busy on Fridays back in the days before Catholics could eat meat on Friday!
Another part of my Ocean City childhood gone!
